The representatives of the American Conti Group expressed their interest in the Anaklia project and introduced their vision to the government of Georgia.
The president of the company, Kurt Conti met PM Irakli Gharibashvili and Economy Minister Giorgi Kvikirashvili. According to the Ministry of Economy, the parties discussed issues related to the development of the Anaklia Port and its adjacent territories. In particular, besides the construction of Anaklia Port, development of logistics and industry zones, as well as construction of airports and liquid gas terminal are planned.
According to Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Anaklia Port project will bring together regional interests. The government of Georgia plans to select the strategic management company that will ensure the successful implementation of the project. The Vice Prime Minister of Georgia also stressed that the comprehensive project in Anaklia, implies construction of port, logistics centre, industry zone, international airport, and should be in compliance with the Georgian railway project that is being currently implemented. As the Ministry of Economy claims, the Conti Group has 100 years' experience in project management like Anaklia.
The next visit of the Conti Group representatives in Georgia is planned in January 2014.MCLA states that the investigation has already started.
