A painting by famous Georgian artist Merab Abramishvili (1957-2006) was sold at Sothebeys auction in London, UK. Piano, dated 1988, was sold for 17,500 GBP.
The initial estimation for the painting was only 15,000 GBP.
A Finnish collector, who was the latest owner of the piano, acquired it directly from the artist in 1990 or 1991. Since then, the painting had been kept in Helsinki, Finland.
The first time when Sothebeys auction house sold an Abramishvili painting was in March of this year. Maneater of Kumaon by the Georgian artist was sold for 35,000 GBP at that time.
