The members of parliament have discussed the bill outlining to speed up the formation of a new board of the Georgian Public Broadcaster (GBP) this week.
The decision of proposing the bill a month earlier than planned was prompted after the GBPs current board of trustees became defunct. Earlier this month two out of its remaining nine sitting members (six seats in 15-seat board were already vacant) stepped down and board became incapable to take any decision. At least eight members are required to be present at a session.
According to the newly proposed amendment number of seats will be reduced to nine and the procedures for formation of the new board will launch from November 25, 2013. The board will be capable to take any decision after seven members will be elected.
