Irakli Garibashvili was born on June 28, 1982.
He graduated from Georgian State University International Relations faculty and continued his studies in the University of Sorbonne, Paris.
In 2004, Garibashvili returned to Georgia and started working at a charity fund Cartu (Owned by Bidzina Ivanishvili) as an assistant manager of logistics department.
In 2005, Garibashvili was appointed as a personal assistant to Bidzina Ivanishvili and President of the Cartu fund.
"In Cartu, I worked at several positions and implemented many interesting projects, but the most important stage of my life started when Bidzina Ivanishvili called and offered me to become his assistant. I even remember the date - November 17, 2005. Says Garibashvili in an interview with a Georgian newspaper.
Irakli Garibashvili stayed as a head of Cartu until Bidzina Ivanishvili decided to enter politics and establish a political party. Garibashvili has been a member of Georgian Dreams initiative group since the day it was founded.
Garibashvili was considered as one of the closest friends of Ivanishvili in the coalition.
After the victory of Georgian Dream in the Parliamentary Elections, Garibashvili became the Minister of Interior Affairs of Georgia.
The period of his Ministry was significant for several reasons:
The minister was most of all proud with depoliticizing Georgian police. He shut down Constitutional Security Department and Special Operative Departments for this reason. These two departments were well known for executing orders of the previous government.
Garibashvili is married and has two children.
In 2013, November 2, six days after Presidential elections, Bidzina Ivanishvili announced Irakli Garibashvili as his successor and new Prime Minister of Georgia.
