The Special Investigation Service of Georgia has charged two minors with unlawful interference in the work of a Formula TV channel reporter and cameraman following an assault on the journalists last month.
The Service said its investigation had found the offenders assaulted journalist Salome Bokuchava and cameraman Giga Bochorishvili on September 1 while they were reporting on the arrest of an individual by police officers near Delisi Metro Station in capital Tbilisi.
The offences are punishable by a fine or imprisonment for up to two years.
The Service also said investigation actions since its establishment in 2022 had led to 16 individuals being charged with the formal article of “unlawful interference with professional activities of journalists”.
