The market value of Napoli’s Georgian midfielder Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Valencia’s goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili has increased to a “record” on Friday by the information of a player market website Transfermarkt, with Kvaratskhelia’s value raising from €35 mln to €60 mln and Mamardashvili’s from €5 mln to €25mln.
Before moving to Napoli, the Georgian midfielder was worth €15 million, which first increased in September to €35 million, becoming the highest-valued Georgian player of all time. He made an instant impression in the Italian national championship and Champions League through goals and assists. In October he became the first Georgian player to score in the latter competition in 17 years with his goal against Ajax, in a 6-1 win for the Italian club.
The 21-year-old goalkeeper is second in the top 10 of the most expensive Georgian football players, only after Kvaratskhelia, whose market value was €800,000 before moving to Valencia from Locomotive Tbilisi last year. Mamardashvili was promoted from the reserve team of Spanish club Valencia to its first team in September and has been hailed for his “spectacular saves”.
After the price update by Transfermarkt, the evaluation of the Georgian national team increased to €81.80 million, which is a record figure for the team.
