Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze on Tuesday took part in the opening of the reconstructed Shota Rustaveli Square in Uzbekistan’s capital Tashkent.
The head of the Government visited the monument of Rustaveli, Georgia’s mediaeval national poet, in the square and decorated it with flowers, the Government Administration said.
The square is located adjacent to one of the central streets in Tashkent, also named after the author of the 12th century epic The Knight in the Panther’s Skin.
The monument and square were completely reconstructed in 2022 on the initiative of Zurab Abdushelishvili, the Georgian Ambassador to Uzbekistan, and with the support of the Tashkent City Hall.
