Georgian authorities identified 393 cases of illegal storage and transportation of excise-free tobacco products in the country in June, the Revenue Service announced on Wednesday.
A total of 29,326 cigarette cartons, including 408 electronic cigarettes and more than 239 kilograms of excise-free tobacco products, were seized throughout the country by professionals of the Tax Monitoring Department of the Service.
The state body noted administrative offence protocols had been drawn up on 265 of the incidents with case materials sent to court, while seven cases were sent to the Investigation Service of the Georgian Finance Ministry. The remaining 121 cases were classified as unidentified.
