Four Georgian sailors, who have been kidnapped by pirates from the Libyan-flagged tanker in the Nigerian city of Lagos in late February, have been released.
The Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia announced late on Friday that all of the four individuals will be back to Georgia in near future.
The agency had reported earlier that armed pirates had kidnapped 10 sailors including Georgian citizens on February 20.
Congratulating the Georgian sailors with their release, the agency thanked all the engaged parties, including the ship-owner company, for their efforts.
They also thanked the family members of the Georgian hostages for their patience and Georgian media for not disseminate identifying information of the kidnapped individuals.
The Ministry of Economics and Sustainable Development, the Maritime Transport Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ship-owner company have been working together to safely rescue Georgian sailors.
