Batumi wins Europe’s Leading Emerging Tourism Destination 2020

Batumi has won the title of Europe’s Leading Emerging Tourism Destination 2020 in the 27th competition by the World Travel Awards (WTA). 

The European winners of the World Travel Awards were announced yesterday.

Other nominees for the same title were Baku (Azerbaijan), Bydgoszcz (Poland), Derry (Northern Ireland), Kutna Hora (Czech Republic), Ljubljana (Slovenia), Matera (Italy), Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Sibiu (Romania) and Sofia (Bulgaria).

Georgia's Black Sea Town of Batumi has won the title for the second time after 2019. 

World Travel Awards, often referred to as the Oscars of tourism awards, were established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries.

Today, WTA brand is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence.
