Georgia reports 6 new cases of coronavirus, 114 patients recovered, 5 dead

Georgia has reported six new cases of the coronavirus today, bringing the total number of cases to 431.

114 of the 431 people have recovered, while five others have died.

As of today 310 individuals remain infected with COVID-19 inside the country.

5,126 people are under quarantine and 578 others in hospitals. 

The village of Gvankiti in the Terjola municipality of western Georgia was put on lockdown yesterday. 

Imereti governor (state representative) Zviad Shalamberidze says that 12 individuals have tested positive for the virus in the village so far which has more than 2,400 residents.

The village will remain on lockdown until all threats are removed regarding the further spread of the virus,” he said. 

Shalamberidze said that 723 people have been thermo-screened in the village, with several individuals exhibiting suspicious symptoms. 

He said that all three markets in the village will open later today, as well as a pharmacy.

The Georgian parliament extended the state of emergency until May 22 on April 22 to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus in Georgia.
