Georgian Parliament Speaker to visit France

Georgian Parliament Speaker Irakli Kobakhidze will visit France with a delegation of Georgian lawmakers on January 14-16.
He will meet with the President of the French Senate Gérard Larcher and President of the National Assembly Richard Ferrand.
Kobakhidze will deliver a speech at the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly where he will talk about democratic reforms in Georgia, as well as answer questions of French lawmakers.
During his visit Irakli Kobakhidze will also meet with representatives of the Georgian diaspora in France.
Minister of Defence of Georgia Levan Izoria has signed an agreement with his French colleague Florence Parly on the purchase of an air defence management and control system.
The French president has signed an agreement ratified by the country’s legislative body which will allow a certain category of Georgian citizens to receive temporary residency permits and work legally in the country. The agreement covers both the employment of Georgians in France and French citizens in Georgia.
The French government has called on Russia to fulfill the 2008 ceasefire agreement with Georgia and withdraw its forces from Georgian territory, the Embassy of France in Georgia has reported.

An important historic milestone for Georgia was reached in France earlier today when a document was signed officially transferring the Leuville Estate back to Georgia after 89 years.
Georgian Parliament Speaker Irakli Kobakhidze has started his official visit to France with a meeting with his French counterpart, Gerard Larcher.
Georgian Parliament Speaker told French lawmakers today that “both occupied regions of Georgia Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) have in fact become the closed military bases of Russia or service stations”.
The Embassy of France has provided details regarding the recent agreement between France and Georgia which will allow a certain category of Georgian citizens to receive temporary residency permits and work legally in the country.
Georgian Parliament Speaker Irakli Kobakhidze has named Russia as a regional threat in his speech at the Viennese Diplomatic Academy in Austria yesterday. He stated that the Georgian government is not only concerned with the question of sovereignty and security, but also of humanitarian and human rights situation in the regions.
