Georgia, France move to next level of cooperation

Minister of Defence of Georgia Levan Izoria has signed an agreement with his French colleague Florence Parly on the purchase of an air defence management and control system.

The agreement was signed as part of Izoria’s visit to France.

He said the new contract allows Georgia to integrate into the NATO’s united air defence management and control system in the future.

“This would significantly strengthen our defense capabilities in the air defence component what would guarantee the security of our airspace,” Izoria added.

Levan Izoria and Florence Parly have also signed an agreement regarding the logistical provision of the military contingent deployed in the EU mission in the Central African Republic.

Izoria said Georgia stays devoted to its contribution which the country is putting alongside EU for maintenance peace and security in the Central African Republic.
