A Turkish court has acquitted five footballers of the FC Tskhinvali team for theft.

The five footballers of FC Tskhinvali were arrested on February 21 at an Antalya shopping center on theft charges. The FC club strictly denounced their detention adding the case was a confusion.

The FC press office head Zura Kartozia said the sportsmen will return to Georgia and continue playing football as usual.

He says the court has not applied any financial or deportation sanctions against the footballers which means they are absolutely innocent.

They were in a hotel, not in prison. They were prohibited to leave the country,” Zura Kartozia said.

Football club Tskhinvali is a Georgian football club based in Gori in the Shida Kartli region of Georgia.
