The OSCE leadership has expressed readiness to provide further support for Georgian democratic reforms and to help the country refine its election legislation, the Parliament of Georgia press office says.
OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger made the statement after his meeting with Georgian Parliament Speaker Irakli Kobakhidze and members of the Georgian parliamentary delegation in Austria today.
We have discussed several important issues of our cooperation. Special emphasis was put on two topics: cooperation for democratic reforms, and we have expressed wish to further strengthen cooperation for this, and the refinement of the Georgian election legislation,” Kobakhidze stated after the meeting.
Georgian conflict issues were also discussed during the meeting.
Greminger stated that Kobakhidze persuaded him that Georgia wants to stay as a regional leader in terms of democracy, rule of law and protection of human rights.
Of course, the OSCE supports Georgia when it comes to the election legislation, the court reform and the transnational challenges like cybercrime,” Greminger said.
The Georgian delegation evaluated the meeting as very important.
