Georgians ‘conquer’ International Judo Federation world ranking

The International Judo Federation (IJF) has published an upgraded world ranking list of senior male judokas.

Seven out of the top ten are of Georgian origin.

Five of them – Varlam Liparteliani, Guram Tushishvili, Vazha Margvelashvili, Amiran Papinashviliand Lasha Shavdatuashvili – compete on behalf of Georgia while the other two represent Spain (Nikoloz Sherazadishvili) and Russia (Robert Mshvidobadze).

Captain of the Georgian Judo team Varlam Liparteliani won gold at the Paris Grand Slam international competition on Monday.

The Georgian judo team often gains victory at different championships. For example, they claimed three gold medals and led the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam rankings in October, 2017.
