Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze has met with World Judo Champion Guram Tushishvili and world silver and bronze medalists Varlam Liparteliani and Amiran Papinashvili today.
At the recent World Championship in Baku, the Georgian National Judo Team received three medals: one gold, one silver, and one bronze, and came third among 124 countries of the world, after Japan and Korea.
Bakhtadze personally congratulated the Georgian judokas on their recent victories and wished them success in their future endeavours.
During the meeting Bakhtadze discussed prospects of the development of Georgian sports, the Georgian athletes' future plans, and the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
Notably, the world champion's title claimed by Georgia at this year's competition is the first since 2014.
The 2019 World Judo Championship will be hosted by Japan's capital, Tokyo.
