The border police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has arrested three citizens of Bangladesh, three citizens of India and one citizen of Yemen for illegally crossing the border near the Sadakhlo check point.
Investigators said the seven detainees have illegally crossed the Armenian-Georgian state border avoiding the border control procedures.
The detainees face four to five years of imprisonment.
Eight citizens of Bangladesh, one citizen of Georgia and one citizen of Azerbaijan were arrested by the Georgian police for trying to cross the country’s border illegally in the Samtskhe-Javakheti southern region of Georgia bordering Turkey.
Georgia’s border guards have detained seven people for attempting to cross into Turkey illegally. The Interior Ministry did not reveal the identities of the detainees, but said two were Georgians while four from Bangladesh. One detainee is Uzbekistani.
