Georgian MPs meet with top figures of US leading organisations in Washington

A Georgian parliamentary delegation, headed by Vice Parliament Speaker Tamar Chugoshvili, has held meetings with top figures of the International Republican Institute (IRI), United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).

NED President Carl Gershman expressed readiness to support the Georgian parliament in organising the Batumi Conference this year, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the EU’s Eastern Partnership initiative," the Parliaments' press office says.

IRI President Daniel Twining spoke about democratic reforms in Georgia and expressed commitment to further boosting IRI-Georgia relations and support to the programmes for four upcoming years serving youth engagement, and strengthening women’s position in politics,” the Georgian Parliament press office says.  

The Georgian delegation and USAID administration discussed future cooperation prospects concerning the exchange of academic programmes for young political leaders and expressed interest regarding the current situation in the two occupied regions of Georgia Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia).
