Georgian diplomas will soon be presentable to potential employers via QR codes.
The initiative is being carried out as a part of the current wave of educational reforms – the system will also include vocational certificates.
After a meeting with Input Output HK Ltd blockchain company today, Georgian Education Minister Mikheil Batiashvili said the complete transition of the education system to blockchain technologies is expected by the end of 2019.
The high-tech and well-secured system will lead to the improvement of the quality of education,” he said.
The Education Ministry of Georgia and tech company Cardano Group signed a deal earlier on June 17 to implement the integration of diplomas and certificates into the blockchain system.
Blockchain technology allows digital information to be distributed but not copied. It was originally created for the Bitcoin digital currency, but afterwards other potential uses were found.
