The Georgian Interior Ministry has detained a Georgian citizen for illegal purchase and possession of about 60gr of heroin in Kvemo Kartli region in the country's east.

The Interior Ministry released a video showing the detention of an individual identified only as A.K.

The crime is punishable by eight to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.

77 individuals were charged with smuggling drugs in Georgia in between January and July 2019, the Interior Ministry reports.

Identified only as G.S., the individual was accused of assaulting his wife, identified only as L.Ts., both verbally and physically.

Georgian police have seized a methadone substance in especially large quantities in the Georgian region of Samegrelo today. The operation ended up with the arrest of one individual identified only as T.M. born in 1976. The detainee faces from eight to twenty years or life in jail.

Georgian police have detained an Azerbaijani national identified only as G.H. (b. 1991) for illegal possession of drugs in large quantities on July 30. Patrol police officers ordered G.H. to stop his car in order to carry out a check on July 30 in Rustavi, after which he got out of the car and attempted to escape but police arrested him.

Police detained four for drug offenses including two drug dealers on August 11. Two of the detainees were arrested on the Tbilisi – Senaki – Leselidze highway. 1,002 pills of Subutex and 293 pills of MDMA were seized as the police officers searched the vehicle.

Police officers have seized especially large quantities of drugs in the town of Marneuli, in the Kvemo Kartli region and arrested one, identified only as I.G. today. Police report that the detainee, born in 1967, faced charges in past and currently is on parole.

2 Bulgarian citizens detained for possession of 40kg heroin in Batumi

Police have detained two Bulgarian citizens for the purchase and possession of 40kg of heroin in the Black Sea region of Adjara. The Bulgarians had smuggled ‘an especially large quantity of drugs’ with the intention of selling them in Europe.
