Police detain Azerbaijani national for drug possession in Rustavi, Georgia [Video]

Georgian police have detained an Azerbaijani national identified only as G.H. (b. 1991) for illegal possession of drugs in large quantities on July 30.

Patrol police officers ordered G.H. to stop his car in order to carry out a check on July 30 in Rustavi, after which he got out of the car and attempted to escape but police arrested him.

The Georgian Interior Ministry released a video regarding the detention:

 

Police seized the following narcotic substances: 

  • MDMA – 709 pills
  • Suboxone – 86 pills
  • Subutex – 93 pills
  • B8 – 3 pills
  • So-called Bio – 1.239 kg
  • Unidentified psychoactive substance – 28.89 gram

The detainee faces from eight to 20 years or life in jail.

The latest data of the Georgian Interior Ministry say that 77 individuals were charged with smuggling drugs into Georgia in between January and July 2019.
