Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili and Parliament Speaker Archil Talakvadze stated that the two countries, Georgia and the US, share common values.
Zurabishvili said that she spent 12 years in the US and the years made a big influence on her future life and career.
My daughter was also born in the US. However, this is a personal connection and the state-to-state relations stand above one’s personal attitude. Our relationship is first of all based on common values,” Zurabishvili said.
Acting US Ambassador to Georgia Elizabeth Rood stated that it was a pleasure for her to celebrate the date with the Georgian PM, president and the parliament speaker.

She said that today the US also marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, when a man stepped on the moon for the first time, saying that the day reminds the world the power of unity and importance of country-to-country relations.
This anniversary reminds us of the incredible things that nations can do when they are free and democratic and work together. And the United States will continue to stand by Georgia in our strategic partnership in meeting the joint challenges that we face,” she said.
Rood stated that Georgia is a strong nation, a resilient nation and that “it has the full support of the United States and many other partners.”
