Georgia sends kind wishes on American Independence Day

Georgian top state officials have sent kind wishes to the US to congratulate the American people on their Independence Day today.

Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze wrote about strong ties between the US and Georgia, which are based on universal values such as freedom, equality, rule of law and dedication to democracy.

Independence is a value the Georgian people have fought for many times. That is why we know how precious it is,” Bakhtadze said.

Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili sent a letter to his American counterpart Donald Trump:

It is my pleasure to extend to you my most sincere congratulations on the occasion of the Independence Day of the United States of America”, Margvelashvili’s letter reads.

In the letter Margvelashvili stated that the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 played a decisive role and laid foundation to the new era in the United States as well as in the entire world.

The US has always been a beacon of freedom and liberty for other nations as well as the main pillar for peace and stability worldwide. Considering such a turbulent and changeable environment, I remain confident that under your leadership, the United States will successfully go through the existing challenges and achieve new heights for its prosperous development,” Margvelashvili wrote.

The Georgian Parliament Speaker Irakli Kobakhidze stated that it is a solemn date not only for American people but for all nations that recognise freedom and democracy as key values.

I would like to congratulate our major ally, strategic partner and loyal friend – the United States of America on Independence Day,” Kobakhidze said.

The Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani called America "Georgia’s foremost partner” and wished a happy Independence Day to the American people.
