Strong wind, rainfall causes light damage, minor issues in Tbilisi

Strong winds and heavy rainfall have caused problems in Tbilisi, particularly in the Didube-Chugureti district, the Georgian Emergency Management Service reports.
No one has been reported injured,” the agency says.
The agency has stated that most of the calls have been about fallen trees, roofs coming off and the flooding of basements or yards.
The agency reports that falling trees have damaged several cars in the Didube-Chugureti and Mtatsminda districts of Tbilisi.
Saturday night's heavy wind and rain have badly affected some of the districts in Tbilisi, as well as other regions of Georgia. The Emergency Management Centre has received about 25 calls from Tbilisi and 20 calls from Shida Kartli, in Georgia's east.
Villages in the Telavi and Akhmeta municipalities of Kakheti region have been damaged as a result of heavy rainfall and hail last night.
Powerful rain has resulted in the flooding of houses and streets in the Gardabani, Gori, Signagi and Lagodekhi municipalities last night.
Akhmeteli subway access was flooded heavily while the emergency service has received calls about flooding in the basements of residential buildings in Gldani, Mukhiani and Digomi districts as well.
Georgian farmers will receive compensation for damage to crops caused by hail and severe weather conditions. A calculation of the total losses suffered this season is underway.
