Fine increases for parking on spots for people with disabilities

Fine will increase from the current 10 GEL (4 USD) to 50 GEL (18 USD) for parking in spots which are allocated for vehicles of people with disabilities. The Georgian parliament has approved the bill with its third and final reading earlier today.

The bill was put forward by Georgian Dream ruling party legislators.

One of the authors of the bill is Rati Ionatamishvili, who is wheelchair bound.

The bill reads that parking [by others] in an area which are allocated for parking for people with disabilities were so frequent that there was a need to provide a tougher measure.

The bill was adopted with 91 votes with none against in the 150-member legislative body.
