The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency has installed six elevators for people with special needs in underpasses in Tbilisi in partnership with Tbilisi City Hall.

The elevators, which have been installed at three locations in the city centre, Melikishvili Street, Rustaveli Avenue, Liberty Square, will enable the free movement of people in wheelchairs.

Visiting all the three locations with Turkish Ambassador Fatma Ceren Yazgan, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said that there are too many cases of vandalism in the city and called on the public to take care of public infrastructure:

It is very important to adapt the city for people with special needs. In the near future we will sign an agreement to implement such projects at various locations in Tbilisi…We must do everything to create an accessible environment for those who need it”, said Kaladze.

The cost of the project was $100,000 (€90,646).
