The number of visitors to Georgia’s protected areas increased in January-April 2019 and reached 113,251 people, exceeding data from the same period last year by 13%.

54% of the visitors were Georgians and 46% were foreigners.

The areas that attracted most visitors were the National Park of Tbilisi, Prometheus Cave near Kutaisi, the National Park of Kazbegi, Martvili Canyon and Mtirala National Park on the country’s west coast.

Most of the visitors were from Germany, Poland, Israel, India and Russia.

As of May, tickets to the protected areas have been available online, allowing tourists to plan their visits in advance.
