Georgia's internationally acclaimed violinist Lisa Batiashvili has been selected as the soloist for this year's Nobel Prize Concert, an occasion honouring the laureate of the famed prize.
Promoted as "an event of world class stature", the show will feature Batiashvili in recognition of her "virtuosity and profound sensitivity", said a release by organisers.
The Georgian artist will be joined by Karina Canellakis, with the latter becoming the first female conductor for the annual date in her leadership of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra.
Falling within official Nobel Week program of events in December, the musical occasion will be attended by Nobel Prize laureates, with the Swedish Royal Family and Nobel Foundation guests also to be in the audience.
Previous artists performing at the Nobel Prize Concert have included celebrated violinist Janine Jansen and conductor Gustavo Dudamel.
Marking its 13th edition his year, the Nobel concert will be held at the Stockholm Concert Hall on December 8.
German-based Lisa Batiashvili is a recipient of two ECHO Klassik awards among other prizes and was nominated for the 2017 Artist of the Year award by the Gramophone magazine.
She was also recently selected to head the high-profile Audi Summer Concerts in Germany in 2019.
