The Czech Development Agency will help Georgia develop management capabilities for chemical waste and create proper legislation, announces Georgia’s Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture.

The Ministry and the Agency have today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) within the "Strengthening of Sustainable Management Capabilities of Georgia’s Chemical Waste” project.

Within the project the Czech Development Agency will help Georgia develop management capabilities of chemical waste and create the proper legislation. This will facilitate the harmonisation of Georgian legislation with the European Union’s legislation”, said Georgia’s Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili.

On the other hand, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Georgia Tomas Pernicky said he was welcoming the initiative of creating legislation in the field of chemical waste.

I am glad that within the memorandum we will be able to share our experiences with Georgia in sustainable management of chemical waste, which is an important factor for environmental protection. I also welcome the initiative of creating legislation in the field of chemical waste and our involvement in this process”, said Pernicky.
