Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has detained eight Georgian citizens who are members of a criminal group in Paris, France.

The detainees are accused of membership in a criminal gang and robbery.

The investigation found that members of the criminal group had ties with so-called Georgian thieves-in-law who were detained in Paris in November 2017, announced the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The investigation conducted by Georgian and French law enforcers found out that since March, the Georgian members of the criminal gang had committed robbery in France several times.

Police seized mobile phones, portable computers, gold items, various drugs, Georgian and French bank cards, and money as evidence.

Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs intensively cooperates with law enforcement agencies of different countries in order to combat organised crime.
