A collection of drone-captured videos showing various sights of Georgia from a bird’s eye perspective can be found by travellers and drone footage enthusiasts in an online collection bringing together contributions by photographers.
The repository includes works ranging from general videos showing urban and rural locations all over the country, to footage themed on subjects like New Year’s Eve celebrations in Tbilisi and the picturesque highland province of Svaneti.
They have been uploaded by makers to AirVūz, an online platform for enthusiasts of camera-equipped unmanned aerial vehicles.
Promoted as “the premiere online video site for the emerging Drone Age”, the website offers themed sections including Georgia From Above, where the contributions are brought together.
The platform’s description of the section notes “[i]n this collection, you'll see the incredible sights of Georgia from a bird's eye perspective”.
Videos include award-winning creations such as Colours of Georgia by Timelab.pro collective, and works by local drone photographers.
Among the submissions is footage of the industrial city Rustavi and the winemaking region Kakheti in the east, with central city Gori and the ancient capital Mtskheta also caught on lens.
Drone footage of locations in Georgia has become less widespread with introduction of legislation restricting operation of unmanned aerial vehicles last year.
Many other locations were captured from the skies by photographer Amos Chapple in his project One Last Time Over Georgia before the limits were imposed.
