The external merchandise trade of Georgia has exceeded eight billion USD in January-August 2018, up by 22.6 per cent y/y.
As seen in the preliminary data published by Geostat, the value of exports increased by 27.1 per cent reaching more than two billion USD while imports grew by 21 per cent and amounted to almost six billion USD.
The trade deficit equalled more than 3.8 billion USD while its share in the trade turnover is 47 per cent.

Georgia is increasing its role as an important trade partner for the European Union (EU), the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and other countries.
Georgia’s external trade grew by 24.5 percent in January-May 2018 and reached $5.98 billion, says the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat). In the first six months of 2018 the value of Georgia’s exports increased by 28.8 percent to $1.59 billion.
Georgia is strengthening its trade relations with the European Union (EU), the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and other countries.
Copper ores and concentrates, ferro-alloys and motor cars were Georgia’s top exported commodities in January-April 2018, shows the preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

Georgia’s external trade grew by 20.8 per cent this year and reached $9.12 billion in January-September 2018, says the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat). This year the value of Georgia’s exports increased by 25.7 percent to $2.44 billion, while the value of imports also increased 19.1 per cent to $6.67 billion with respect to January-September 2017, said Geostat.
Georgia is strengthening trade relations with the European Union (EU), to where in January-September of 2018 exports from Georgia amounted to $533 million – 13.2% higher year-on-year.
