External merchandise trade up by 22 per cent y/y

The external merchandise trade of Georgia has exceeded eight billion USD in January-August 2018, up by 22.6 per cent y/y.

As seen in the preliminary data published by Geostat, the value of exports increased by 27.1 per cent reaching more than two billion USD while imports grew by 21 per cent and amounted to almost six billion USD.

The trade deficit equalled more than 3.8 billion USD while its share in the trade turnover is 47 per cent.
