Georgia’s external trade grew by 20.8 per cent this year and reached $9.12 billion in January-September 2018, says the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
This year the value of Georgia’s exports increased by 25.7 percent to $2.44 billion, while the value of imports also increased 19.1 per cent to $6.67 billion with respect to January-September 2017, said Geostat.
Georgia’s trade deficit equalled $4.22 billion this year, which was a 46.3 per cent share of the country's total trade turnover.
Trade deficit is an economic measure of the negative balance of trade in which a country's imports exceed its exports.
