The Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Georgia awarded winners of the 2017 EU Prize for Journalism in six categories covering print, broadcast, web, and photo journalism.
In addition, the EU Monitoring Mission presented their special prize for conflict-sensitive journalism contributing to confidence building and peace.
The winners of EU Prize for Journalism 2017 are:
- Best written story in print or online news media: Salome Gorgodze (Tatia Khaliani co-author)
- Best audio or audio-visual story in broadcast or online news media: Natia Orvelashvili
- Best written investigative story in print or online news media: Nino Abdaladze (Nanuka Bregvadze – co-author)
- Best investigative audio or audio-visual story in broadcast or online news media: Tskriala Shermadini
- Best online or print blog, opinion or column in print or online news media: Beka Korshia
- Best documentary photo: Dina Oganova
- Best conflict-sensitive journalistic work (the EUMM Special Prize): Nino Gogua
The winners of the first six categories received a cash prize of 3,750 GEL each, while the winner of the EUMM Special Prize will receive a one-month fellowship at the Institute of War and Peace Reporting in London.
