Second round of municipal elections: 11.55% voter turnout by 12pm

In six municipalities of Georgia 37,914 voters have cast their ballots in the second round of municipal elections by 12pm this afternoon.

Voter turnout was 11.55 percent at 12pm - four hours after polling stations opened in those six districts where no candidate cleared the 50 percent threshold during the first vote on October 21, said the Central Election Commission (CEC) in its latest media update.

The voter turnout in six municipalities by 12pm was the following:

  • Kutaisi - 9,409 (6.2 percent)
  • Ozurgeti – 13,372 (21.5 percent)
  • Martvili - 3,739 (11.5 percent)
  • Kazbegi – 922 (17.4 percent)
  • Khashuri - 5,646 (11.5 percent)
  • Borjomi - 4,826 (18.2 percent)

The polling stations opened at 8am this morning for about 328,272 eligible voters. The CEC encouraged everyone eligible to go to polling stations and vote.
