Georgia’s Ambassador to Spain and Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), Zurab Pololikashvili, has received the status of honorable citizen of Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay.
Mayor of Montevideo Daniel Martinez has granted the status to Pololikashvili.
Pololikashvili participated in the closing ceremony of the regatta championship - Clipper Round the World Yacht Race - in Uruguay.
The Clipper Race is the most large-scale regatta championship, composed of eight rounds.
Participants of the championship have to travel around the world with yachts and cross five oceans.
Pololikashvili was confirmed as the UNWTO Secretary General on September 14 of this year.
