Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili has started bilateral meetings with world leaders within the upcoming 72nd United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in New York, United States (US).
Discussing bilateral cooperation between Georgia and the European Union (EU), the country’s ongoing reforms, and the situation in Georgia’s Russian occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia), President of European Council Donald Tusk said the EU remains committed to Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Prior to the meeting with Tusk, PM Kvirikashvili attended UN Reform – an event organised by the US President Donald Trump and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres with the main focus on the organisation’s global role and its activities.
Later on today Kvirikashvili will also meet with OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger.
The Georgian delegation headed by PM Kvirikashvili arrived in US on September 17 to participate in a wide range of events scheduled within the 72nd UNGA session.
Prior to delivering a speech at the 72nd UN General Assembly session on September 21, the Georgian delegation will participate in the Open Government partnership (OGP) high-level event where the Georgian PM will take OGP’s one-year chairmanship form France.
