Georgia’s PM leaves for US to participate in 72nd UN General Assembly

The Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili has departed for the United States (US) for an official trip where he will take part in a wide range of events scheduled for the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

The Georgian delegation will visit New York to participate in the event between September 18 and 22.

Kvirikashvili will hold high level, bilateral meetings during his visit.

The PM will address the participants of the Open Government Partnership (OGP) – an organisation composed of 75 foreign states.

OGP high level events are also within the session.

For the first time Georgia has become the chair of the OGP this year, for a one year term taking the role from France.

The 72nd UN session is scheduled to discuss 172 issues, with a focus on human rights and lingered conflicts.

Key debates within the event will take place between September 19 and 25.
