US Vice President Mike Pence met with opposition leaders in Tbilisi today.

The opposition leaders represented the United National Movement, the European Georgia, Free Democrats and the Movement for Building.

Leader of European Georgia David Bakradze stated that the opposition representatives received confirmation from Mike Pence over the US’s continued support to Georgia’s security and territorial integrity.

We heard a very clear message that the US new administration under Donald Trump continues supporting Georgia’s security and territorial integrity,” Bakradze stated.

David Usupashvili from the Movement for Building stressed the level of US economic support to Georgia would be dependent on the level of democracy in Georgia.

Nikanor Melia from the United National Movement and Shalva Shavgulidze  from Free Democrats stated they spoke about "informal ruling of the country by ex-Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili”, as well as about problems over constitutional reform, in judiciary and in the media.
