Georgian judokas win 7 medals at Euro Youth Olympic Fest

Georgia's junior  judo team has triumphed with four gold, one silver and two bronze medals at Euro Youth Olympic Fest in the Hungarian city of Gyor.

Sopio Somkhishvili and Mikheil Bekauri brought gold medals to the team at today’s final day of judo competitions, while Levan Tchelidze – ended with bronze.

In total, Georgian athletes who claimed gold medals are:

  • Sopio Somkhishvili - 73kg category;
  • Mariam Tchanturia - 63kg category.
  • Mikheil Bekauri – 90kg category;
  • Giorgi Chikhelidze - 66kg category.

Meanwhile, Beka Tsipiani claimed silver medal in 55kg category, while Levan Tchelidze (100kg) and Vladimer Akhalkatsi (81kg) received bronze.

Hungary is hosting European Youth Olympic Festival on July 23-29. Apart from judo, athletes from 50 European countries compete in different types of sport, including cycling, tennis, gymnastics and swimming.
