Fathers all over Georgia are being celebrated today by their loved ones as the country celebrates Father’s Day.
This year is the second time Georgia celebrates Father’s Day on June 19.
The initiative of the celebration comes from the Georgian office of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and local organisation We Care within the MenCare Campaign.

Of all that I've done in my life, I'm most proud to be Sasha and Malia's dad. To all those lucky enough to be a dad, Happy Father's Day! https://t.co/ya1YAJignC

The survey ‘Men and Gender Relations in Georgia’ conducted back in 2013 has revealed that "existing stereotypes and established clichés prevent men from taking responsibility and being caring fathers, husbands, partners and family members.”
UNFPA Georgia believes "men’s care and involvement has a great importance for the well-being of women, children, and society at large.”
As Georgia celebrates Mother’s Day on March 3 every year, Father’s Day is believed to bring a positive change to Georgian families by reminding them how equally important mothers and fathers are for their children.
