The United States (US) is continuing to help Georgia better protect its state borders.
Today, Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Giorgi Mgebrishvili along with US Ambassador Ian Kelly opened the Command and Control Center on Georgian-Armenian state border called Sadakhlo.
The creation of the centre was supported by the US Defence Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA).

"The center is a unique project which will be provided with the technical support by the State Security Agency. This is the first case, that this type of monitoring system has been introduced at the state border,” Mgebrishvili said.
The center aimed to strengthen border security and improve control which will also contribute to detection and eradication of trans-border crime and illegal migration.

The Command and Control Center was founded within the frames of DTRA-funded project Capacity Building of the Green Border. The project aimed at enhancing K9 service infrastructure at border sectors and equipping Georgian-Armenian state border sectors with modern video surveillance systems.
The opening ceremony was attended by Cooperative Threat Reduction department director at DTRA Elisabeth George.
