The flag carrier of Israel, El Al Israel Airlines, plans to launch regular flights between Georgia’s capital Tbilisi and Black Sea resort town Batumi and Tel Aviv, Israel’s second largest city.
To learn more about Georgia's aviation matket, senior officials from El Al Israel Airlines and its daughter airline company Sun d'Or met representatives from the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency and Turkey-based airport operator TAV Georgia.
The meeting was held yesterday at the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency.
El Al Israel Airlines representatives learned about Georgian legislation regarding aircraft travel into and out of Georgia.
The Israeli side said its national carrier was ready to enter the Georgian market. However the company representatives continued consultations with the Georgian side to solve additional technical issues.
The Georgian Civil Aviation Agency expressed it's readiness to establish "tight cooperation” with El Al Israel Airlines and Israeli aviation authorities in general.
If the negotiations end successfully, El Al Israel Airlines will launch flights to Tbilisi and Batumi from summer, this year.
