The summer aviation season has begun, and with this, more flights will come into and out of two of Georgia’s airports.

Yesterday marked the opening of the 2015 summer season at Tbilisi International Airport and Batumi International Airport, where both facilities announced updated flight schedules and noted an increase in flights to both airports from airlines that currently served the Georgian market.

The summer season, which will operate until October, will see more flights year-on-year from airlines from Italy, Dubai, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and more.

In particular, Italian airline Alitalia will perform direct flights between Rome-Tbilisi-Rome five times a week instead of four.

The national airline of Kazakhstan, Air Astana, will also increase the number of flights from five to seven times a week from the capital. Furthermore, from the end of March Air Astana will carry passengers to new destination Astana as well as Almaty.

Over the next seven months, Atlas jet, airBaltic, Fly Dubai and ISRair will also increase their flight frequencies to Tbilisi.

It should be mentioned that air companies Aeroflot, Air Arabia, Air Cairo and Trans aero, who all flew to Georgia during the winter season, will continue to serve the passengers of Tbilisi International Airport this summer season as well.

As for Batumi, its International Airport is gearing up to experience an increased number of flights this summer.

Sibiri Airlines, Ukraine International Airline, Dneproavia, Enter Air and Belavia will continue their current flight schedule throughout the summer season.

Furthermore, Turkish Airlines was also planning to increase the number flights toward Istanbul. As for Georgian Airways, the number of flights from Batumi towards Tbilisi, Moscow and Tel-Aviv will also grow.
