US-Georgia special forces military training ends in Tbilisi

The Georgian-American military drills for special operations forces have officially closed in Georgia's capital Tbilisi today.

Georgia’s Defence Minister Tinatin Khidasheli and United States (US) Ambassador to Georgia Ian Kelly attended the closing ceremony and presented certificates to participating servicemen.

This program is one of many projects the Georgian and American sides jointly carry out with the aim of increasing Georgia’s defence capabilities,” Khidasheli said.

The Minister was confident that these type of exercises were beneficial both for the Georgian and US forces.

We have many more years ahead to share our experiences and knowledge more actively in order to bring the Georgian forces to the standards required for such type of units,” Khidasheli said.

The drills lasted for several weeks and covered many tactical and operational levels. The soldiers learnt how to perform battlefield first aid and improved their skills for military decision-making process.
