Georgian Armed Forces (GAF) and their United States (US) Army partners will hold a second edition of the joint military exercise Noble Partner as two countries continue their defence cooperation.

The exercise will follow the 2015 Noble Partner drills in May of last year that featured hundreds of service members from the NATO Response Force (NRF) militaries.

The exercise will again be held in May at the Vaziani Military Airfield and polygon 20km outside capital Tbilisi.

Involving two company-size units of the GAF and a number of US Army units, the 2016 Noble Partner will be aimed at enhancing NRF interoperability and strengthening defence cooperation between Georgia and the US.

Vaziani hosted the planning conference for the exercise today, with military planners of the two countries involved in assessment and coordination efforts for the event.

Georgia became the fourth non-NATO member state to join the NRF last year, with the unit created in reaction to security developments in Eastern Europe over the recent years.
