President of the National Council, the lower house of the Federal Assembly of Switzerland, announced her Georgia visit today.
Christa Markwalder will come to Georgia for a two-day visit on September 5 and 6.
Markwalder announced her upcoming visit while meeting with Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili in the Swiss capital Bern this evening.
The pair discussed the importance of the free trade agreement with European Free Trade Association (EFTA), which opened the markets of Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein for Georgian goods.
Kvirikashvili informed the Swiss official about Georgia’s decision to appoint commercial attaches in the Embassies of Georgia abroad to inform the country’s partners about its economic goals.
The two sides also discussed the situation in the region and Kvirikashvili thanked Markwalder for Switzerland acting as a moderator between Georgia and Russia since the two countries cut off diplomatic ties following the 2008 war.
