Georgian tourists are being offered hot deals to Egypt this summer.

Tourism is one of Egypt’s largest industries and to combat the recent slump in visitor numbers, Egyptian travel operators, hotels and tour groups are targeting Georgian travellers to help reinvigorate the country’s ailing tourism industry.

A delegation from Egypt is currently in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi to raise awareness of Egypt as a tourist hot-spot. The Egyptian delegation comprised of officials and representatives from 10 tourism and travel companies, bringing with them special offers for Georgian tourists.

Egyptian tourism authority Ahmed Shokry said Georgia was "one of the most important markets” for Egypt in terms of tourism.

Egyptian resorts are ready to host Georgian tourists and offer the highest level of services and various travel packages, as well as individual tours,” Shokry said.
Today Egypt is one of the most attractive and affordable countries that offers a unique mix of the oldest culture and modern infrastructure. Here we have splendid weather for the majority of the year, modern airports and comfortable hotels,” he added.

While here the Egyptian tourism and travel company representatives spoke up about a new initiative to arrange special tours for Georgian students to let them visit Egypt’s main sights.

Meanwhile Egyptian airline Air Cairo announced this summer it would increase the number of flights between Georgia and Egypt.

The airline will fly regularly between Georgia and Egypt’s iconic resorts areas Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada, both of which boast vibrant marine life and warm, coastal weather. The price of a return flight will be about $350, said the airline.
