A Japanese government agency who assists economic and social growth in developing countries is interested in helping Georgia develop its agricultural, tourism and eco-tourism sectors.
Mino Sato of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) announced the organisation was interested in supporting Georgia’s development while meeting Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture Levan Davitashvili today.
JICA has designed a Regional Development Program as a result of close collaboration with the Georgian Government. Based on this program, several projects will be implemented in 2015-2016 which aim to support economic growth in Georgia.
The priorities of the Regional Development Program are promotion of Georgia’s agriculture and tourism sectors.
"We are ready to support cooperation between the two countries. We think Georgian and Japanese companies should be more actively cooperating with each other,” Sato said.
From the Georgian side, Davitashvili said it was very important for Japan to share its experiences with Georgia. He emphasised development of the agricultural industry was one of the priorities of the Government.
At today’s meeting the sides discussed the possibility of implementing the ‘One Village – One Product’ concept in Georgia, which was well approbated in Japan.
